Judge rules Bossier City Council must put local term limits up for a vote

District Judge Parker Self ruled today that the Bossier City Council must move forward with the local term limits petition by putting the matter before voters. A certified petition requesting local term limits be put on the ballot was presented to the council three times by Mayor Tommy Chandler. Each time, the council defeated the resolution.

Voting against the resolution were Jeffery Darby, Jeff Free, Vince Maggio, David Montgomery, Jr., and Don Williams.

Two council members voted to put term limits before the voters: Brian Hammons and Chris Smith.

Judge Self ruled that the council must advance the initiative to a public vote.
